An Excerpt from a Dream
Twinkling emerald eyes quickly flickered between a few arguably cruel observations, each review more flawed than the last. Stopping at a blonde curl she again decided the locks were simply too fine and definitely too thin and her skin needed a spa day or two. In truth, she possessed timeless, classic good looks with the wisdom and wit of a girl twice her age. The beauty, all of fourteen years, had the heart of a lioness and the spirit of an angelic steward of all things good and true. So to say her self-image was in need of a reality check was in fact quite the dramatic understatement. Thankfully a mysterious traveler-turned-house guest, a mercurial talking cat, and two new friends were all in store to help do just that.
My immortal no more
Reverberating shock paralyzingly every muscle I need to pick up the pieces
Of what once was called my hope for you and me
Explosions unsurprising
In a dream these scenes unfolded before
Familiar favor I cling as the world surrounding me fades to black
My daughter's love the only color I see
In a moment the pressurized musical silence of shock will abide
He promised this moment and only now through the looking glass of mercy can I see
Untold blessings planted on paths to greater adventures
Now or never show my hand
Remove folly's blindfold tied by misguided loyalty
Amid ongoing destruction favor is imperative
Crucial for reasons unending forgotten too easily
Not this time
Now or never
Tasked with sustaining hope's kindle in His promises to me
Such promise in great sadness
One of life's true mysteries
Waiting to be solved for seeking simpletons believing in the ever benevolent unseen
Faithful and unfailing this unseen
Its presence written on our existence's every tapestry
Unmistakable beacon to safe harbor signaling through every mess the path to security
Eternal Life granted reprieve
To this wretched soul
Allowing truth in love to be seen
Writhing naked in anguishing deceit
Desperate my ears studying for any sign of hope
will you ever love me again the way you once did
Before me appears another man
Wistful words you comfort none
